- The bang is gas pooling for a beat before the spark takes. A boil-over bakes onto the cap and insulates it; grit and thermal cycling crack the ceramic. Cleaning fixes one, a new electrode fixes the other, and telling them apart takes a meter rather than a guess.
- A simmer that only roars or drops out
- On a sealed Wolf burner the low-flame screw and the orifice both have a say. If the flame either lifts off or dies, gas pressure at the regulator is the first thing to measure — a high reading upstream makes every burner behave badly, not just one.
- Oven dead, cooktop alive after a storm
- A dual-fuel range is two systems in one body. Gas burners keep working off their own valves while the electric side has lost a thermal fuse, a transformer or a relay. Monsoon outages here do this often enough that we carry the fuses.
- Charbroiler or griddle heating at one end
- Grease packs a burner tube from the back forward, so the far end starves first. It comes out, every port gets cleared, and the gas train gets checked before it goes back — a part is rarely the answer on these.
